YOU, the student, are the one who is responsible for collecting and completing your missed work in a responsible and timely manner. Late policy (see syllabus) countdown begins upon your return to campus. Going to ZAP? Students are responsible for printing/obtaining their own work for ZAP. Every Tuesday or Wednesday before a ZAP Saturday I give students a detailed PROGRESS REPORT that lists any and all zeros that he or she may have at that time. When going to ZAP, all the student needs to bring is this PROGRESS REPORT and their iPad for my class. Students may open all assignments in neu.annotate, complete the assignments, and email them to me while they are sitting in ZAP. Students do not need to print work. Essays may be written on notebook paper, which the ZAP teacher will have. Detailed ZAP instructions are printed on the back of every detailed progress report and are on the ZAP Page on this website. If a student goes to ZAP without their Progress Report and iPad, they will be sent home. There are computers available in ZAP to students who have lost iPad privileges. Outside Reading is due on 5/22 at exactly 3:15. At 3:16 it is a permanent ZERO. Students need to use their time wisely for taking AR tests. Happy reading! Students need to either have completed their Outside Reading by this date or make other arrangements to have access to books. 11. Issue books: The Hobbit BOOK GRADE: You are responsible for bringing your book or iPad with your book on it to class everyday. You will be given a grade every three weeks called "Book Grade." Everyone starts with a 100 for this grade. You will lose 6 points from this grade every time you forget to bring your book to class. You will also lose 6 points every time you leave your book in class (includes iPad). Whenever you are absent from class, it is your responsibility, as always, to check the Wiki space for assignments. You can always assume that we will read another chapter when you are out. You are responsible for reading the chapter before returning to class, sick or not.

The Hobbit: The Journey Begins...
1. Go to the App Store and download Moxtra.
2. Open the app and create an account.
Your username: school email address
Password: six digit lunch code and a lower case hj
3. Press the + (plus) button next to the word Binders located somewhere on the top of the screen.
4. Select Add New Binder
5. Title the Binder Topic: Last Name, First Name Hobbit Reading Journal and then press Next.
6. Invite ONLY me using my email address: chyde@hjhawks.net
7. Select Create.
8. Shortly, you will receive my acceptance and your Hobbit novel, graphic novel, and reading journal for Chapter 1.
*As we read and complete the reading journal in class, there is no need to turn in your work. I can see and grade everything as you are doing it. You can ask me questions directly through this app along with several other accommodating features.
9. Today, we will spend some time learning how to use Moxtra and going through the Pre-Reading on Moxtra.
10. Start studying these terms. You can go to Quizlet, search our class (Hydeenglish7) and download all 6 stacks to your Quizlet app. There will not be a formal test over just these terms; however, the terms WILL show up on each Hobbit quiz and your real STAAR Reading Test and YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO KNOW THEM. They also show up in your Reading Journal.
11. Issue books: The Hobbit
BOOK GRADE: You are responsible for bringing your book or iPad with your book on it to class everyday. You will be given a grade every three weeks called "Book Grade." Everyone starts with a 100 for this grade. You will lose 6 points from this grade every time you forget to bring your book to class. You will also lose 6 points every time you leave your book in class (includes iPad). Whenever you are absent from class, it is your responsibility, as always, to check the Wiki space for assignments. You can always assume that we will read another chapter when you are out. You are responsible for reading the chapter before returning to class, sick or not.
